Meyerland
The Meyerland and Braeswood neighborhoods are situated along the banks of the Brays Bayou in the southwestern-most corner of Houston's 610 Loop, just south of the cities of West University Place and Bellaire. Braeswood is just west of the Medical Center area and borders Meyerland on its western edge, with Meyerland extending beyond 610 to the west, southwest and south.
Meyerland got its start in the 1950s under the guiding hand of George Meyer. Built on the site of former rice fields, Meyerland was one of the first master-planned deed-restricted communities in the Houston area. Both neighborhoods are comprised primarily of ranch style homes with mature wooded lots affording a distinctly-suburban feel.
Located just minutes from Downtown, the Texas Medical Center, the Galleria, the Reliant Park complex and a number of beautiful parks, Meyerland and Braeswood afford excellent Inner Loop accessibility.
Many residents sate their shopping and dining appetites at or nearby popular Meyerland Plaza, a large multi-store shopping complex affording a variety of restaurant selections as well. The DIY crowd shows up in droves on weekends at Home Depot, while craft enthusiasts delight in treasure hunting at a gigantic Hobby Lobby store.
Meyerland and Braeswood leasing options include free-standing houses, some duplexes and fourplexes, and small garden-style apartment complexes, along with a few, more-contemporary apartment communities.
